Contemporary Master Bedroom Loft

We were hired by this bachelor to design a contemporary master bedroom loft that would allow him to showcase artwork and sculptures from his travels around the world.  This interior design project was located in a lofted condo in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago.

We knew that we wanted to design a bedroom that would make the master bedroom in this old warehouse loft feel comfortable and cozy. We helped this busy home-owner by selecting and ordering the furniture, window treatments, artwork and accessories in the space.

Warming Up the Loft

To set the tone of the bedroom, we painted the walls a creamy brown color that would tie in with the vintage brick walls. We brought in a king size bed and grounded the bedroom with a dark blue wool rug helps to soften the space and reduce echo.

Picking the Perfect Headboard

We selected a dark wood headboard and paired it with coordinating nightstands that feature a light leather insert. Large nightstand lamps with metal bases and linen shades bring in the natural materials that tie in with the large brick wall.

A Place to Rest

A large reading chair offers the owner a place to relax, read and look out the large sliding door window. Custom vertical blinds were added to help add privacy, direct sunlight and help block the strong Eastern sun that would make the space incredibly hot and uncomfortable during the hot and sticky Chicago summers.

Taking a Break

After an intense day staging the bedroom, lead designer and owner, Kathryn Cherne takes a quick break.
